A Masters in Infrastructure Engineering and Management (MIEM) will be offered jointly by the School of Civil and Environment Engineering, NTU and the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB). Applications are now open for the first intake in August 2010. This programme represents the first joint degree programme between NTU and IITB both premier institutions in their respective countries. A graduate level programme in infrastructure engineering and management is of importance in the current world scenario, due to the substantial infrastructure needs in many developing countries as well as in developed countries. While many existing programmes provide graduate training with planning and design skills in specific areas such as structures, geotechnics, environment, transportation, water resources, or construction management, few provide a holistic view of infrastructure system needs in engineering and management such as this programme. The MIEM programme will provide training in planning, design, management and operation of infrastructure systems locally and internationally and particularly in China, India, ASEAN and the Middle East countries. The curriculum addresses the multi-disciplinary nature of the infrastructure development field drawing upon case studies. In addition to faculty from NTU and IITB, industry professionals will also be engaged in discussion of actual case studies of infrastructure projects. This joint degree programme will be officially launched in Singapore on 31 October 2009 at the Marina Mandarin. The event will start at 9 am . Please help us disseminate the information to your industry contacts and potential applicants. A similar launch event will follow in December 2009 in Mumbai, India.
