CROSSINGS IN MY LIFE Olivia will talk about the experiences or crossings in her life that have kindled her entrepreneurial spirit, from her days as a student to her days at University and then working as a chemist in Glaxo to founding her own company and bringing Hyflux to what it is today. Who are the people and what were the experiences that shaped her thinking; her decision to go into the water treatment business; and her philosophy of doing business and staying ahead of the competition. About Ms Olivia Lum Olivia LUM, Group CEO & President and founder of Hyflux Ltd, started her corporate life as a Chemist in Glaxo (S) Pte Ltd. Her leadership and vision transformed Hyflux from a fledgling company to one of Asia's leading membrane companies with operations in the region and China, specializing in water-treatment and recycling systems, turnkey plant design, supply and EPC contracting, and municipal water treatment systems. Hyflux won the Enterprise Award at the Singapore Business Awards 2004. It was also honoured by Forbes as one of the World's 200 Best Small Companies for 2002. Prior to starting Hyflux and the stint in Glaxo, Olivia LUM held multiple entrepreneurial positions during her academic life in insurance, F&B and retail.
